Snow Day Policy

A decision to cancel school, delay the start of school, or to send children home early is based entirely upon our concern for the overall safety of our students at Mason County Central.  For the sake of convenience to the families in our district, every effort is made to inform the media by 6:30 a.m. of school cancellation.  Please listen to local radio stations and television stations for information.  Please do not call the school, as this only creates a potential for tying up phone lines during emergencies.

All Middle School evening events are canceled when there is a snow day or an early dismissal.  High school events are evaluated separately and information provided to the local media.  Journey Middle/High School will be closed if EITHER Mason County Central or Ludington Area Schools is closed. Community Education classes (Enrichment and adult education)  are canceled whenever Mason County Central Schools is closed.  When day school is in session and poor weather threatens safe transportation to evening community education programs, the decision to cancel those evening programs will be made by 4:00 p.m. and the local media informed.

School closing information will be available on our webpage, as well as  TV 9&10, TV 7&4, WKLA / WKZC / WMTE, and WMOM
