Special Meeting
July 26, 2004
The MCC Board of Education met at the Mason-Lake ISD Board Room in a joint session with the Ludington Area School District Board of Education. Jim Dittmer, as a member of the Mason-Lake ISD board, served as moderator.
1] CALL TO ORDER
Jim Dittmer called the meeting to order at 7:25 p.m.

Members Present: Al Deering, Jim Dittmer, Nancy Knizacky, Roland Struve, Sherry Wyman
Members Absent: Randy Saxton, Gena Nelson
Others Present: Kris Courtland-Willick, Deb Thomas, Carla Mayer, Chuck Sandro,
Also Present: Ludington Area School Board Members: Jim Nicholson, Tim Heinrich, Susan Peterson, Ray Janish, Shawn McDonald, Allan Nelson, Paul Coleman, LAS Superintendent Mike Oakes, Phyllis Cox; LAS administrators Mark Boon, Kevin Kimes, Cal DeKuiper; Mark Steigenga, Kevin Bracieszeski of the Ludington Daily News.
3] CONSENT APPROVAL OF AGENDA
The agenda was approved by consent

INFORMATION REPORTSKevin Kimes gave an overview of the primary reasons for merging the alternative education programs of LAS and MCC into a single cooperative program.
5] *ACTION ITEMS
A. Dissolution of the Dunes Alternative Education Program
A motion was made by Mr. Dittmer, seconded by Mr. Struve, to dissolve the existing Dunes Alternative Education program.
The motion carried 5 – 0.B. Resolution to Enter into the LAS/MCC Alternative Education Cooperative Agreement
A motion was made by Ms. Knizacky, seconded by Ms. Wyman, to enter into the agreement with Ludington Area Schools for a cooperative alternative education program. The motion carried 5 – 0. The agreement is entered as an attachment to the minutes.

A motion was made by Mr. Struve, seconded by Ms. Knizacky, to adjourn the meeting.The motion carried 5 – 0.
